Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a direct Sequel to the original 1974 about a psycho killer family. There have been many sequels about Leatherface, who wears a mask of human faces over his own face. However, this direct sequel is set almost 50 years later and centers around the same town where the original murders took place. A group of young adults, along with a party bus of "Investors" come to this small Texas town as they want to open up restaurants and businesses and basically "Gentrify" the town. In order to do so they must kick an elderly lady out of her home who cares for children as well as an older man with mental issues. The elderly lady falls ill and is being transported in ambulance along with the older man, but she eventually dies. The older man becomes enraged after her death and we soon learn this man is Leatherface!!!! This film has been very polarizing with audiences in general. You either love it or hate it. This movie is basically a throwback to the old mindless slasher films. The characters are doing dumb things, and often leave you scratching your head with their poor decision making. Plus, Leatherface is probably well over 70 years old but moves like a 20-year-old. This is definitely a "check your brain at the door" type of film. I found the film to be decent but definitely far from perfect. If you are hoping to see Leatherface break out his chainsaw and slash people up, then you will get that. Otherwise, if you are expecting a smarter horror film, then this one may not be for you.
