Kierre's review of Prey 2022 ★★★½

Watched Aug 13, 2022

Prey is the Predator Prequel set in the 1700"s in the Great Plans. The film is centered around an Camanche tribe, and a Native American young woman named Naru who wants to be a hunter with her other brother and his male friends. Her mother and brother don't feel she is much of a hunter, but she feels she has something to prove and wants to be a warrior. In the backdrop The Predator has arrived. Only this time he is much more primitive as this film takes place close to three hundred years before the 1980's "Predator" Film. He has landed on earth, which appears to be the first time and is fighting with all of the animals on the planet includes snakes, bears and eventually humans. Once the Camanche learns of this unknown beast, they try to hunt and kill the Alien and Naru wants to be the one to kill it. The film is now streaming on Hulu. There's a bit more to the story than this, but I will simply state that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I love how this Predator fought fire with fire. You use your bare hands, so would he. If you used bow and arrows, so did he, if you used a gun, so did he. I felt the story was fun, and the action was great as well. It is one of the better films I've seen all year.
