Army of Thieves is a prequel film to "Army of the Dead" and stars Matthias Schweighöfer as Lugwig Dieter, an aspiring Safe Cracker who posts a video on YouTube and receives an invite to a "Safe Cracking" Tournament. After winning the Tourney, he is invited to join a team of "Thieves" as they need his help in order to crack 3 almost impossible safes. The film also co-stars Nathalie Emmanuel, and Schweighofer also directs the film.
The film isn't bad. I really enjoyed Dieter's character in "Army of the Dead" and thought he brought great comic relief. However in a staring role, I felt he was a little much in some parts. I didn't have any issue with the other main characters but I never learned enough about any of the gang to really care about any of them. It has some humor and some action but overall it sort of made me just want to watch "Army of the Dead" again!
