Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. After the uncharacteristic misstep of 2016’s terrible Western In a Valley of Violence, Ti West is back to doing what he does best.
This is funny and tense and brutal and it nails the look, feel, and pacing of gritty ‘70s horror incredibly well, to the point that it’s bound to frustrate some audiences weaned on ADD-style editing. But if you’re in for this type of experience, it’s a blast.
Great characters, too. None feel like pure cannon fodder which makes it more suspenseful, and they’re played by a thoroughly engaging ensemble of actors. I’ll definitely be watching this a lot!
