Jason's Review of The Forever Purge 2021 ★★★½

I really hate the word “purge” and having to hear it 100 times every time I see one of these movies, but otherwise, for the most part I really enjoy this series.

The best films in the series (especially ANARCHY and THE FIRST PURGE) are total John Carpenter movies, through and through, like a combo of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and THEY LIVE (minus aliens). This one isn’t quite as good as those, but it’s also definitely got that politically-conscious, action-heavy, dystopian John Carpenter feel down. Considering no one makes movies like that anymore (not even John Carpenter unless he comes out of retirement), I’m all in.
