What a plotless, pointless, mish-mash of a movie. A waste of time on so many levels. The plot could basically be summed up as “cameo appearances do battle.” Lazy.
I thought maybe I was turning a corner on Marvel because I’ve enjoyed several of their projects lately (especially Black Widow, WandaVision, and Hawkeye) and enjoyed both previous Tom Holland Spider-man films, but this was ten steps back and a reminder that it’s all really just a never-ending money machine first and foremost.
I will say that I didn’t realize how much I missed Andrew Garfield in the role (he was always great in that role, even if that awful second film killed his run), and I love how much fun he had messing with people in the press before the film’s release. He was a bright spot in an otherwise completely empty experience here.
