Spenser Confidential 2020 ★★★½

The Letterboxd hive mind may be piling on this one, but guess what, it is super entertaining and I’m glad I watched it.  It’s actually the only Peter Berg film I’ve really enjoyed since FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. It’s a solid, funny, and well-made action comedy with a nicely paired Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke (US, BLACK PANTHER), with Alan Arkin and Bokeem Woodbine along for the ride. The storyline is nothing you haven’t seen before, but the engaging characters and snappy pace keep you engaged, and the soundtrack is awesome too.  What’s to hate?
