I absolutely love this movie. It has such a big heart, embodied mostly by a truly luminous Rachel McAdams performance. This will be a cult movie. Total originality + heart on sleeve + unafraid to be weird + Sigur Rós + elves and ghosts + catchy tunes = a movie that understands it’s better to be a few people’s favorite thing than a million people’s satisfactory thing. I’ll take this endearingly goofy and charming and imaginative movie any day over yet another competently-made snooze about beautiful people with superpowers (I’m looking at you, THE OLD GUARD).
